About the product:
Our revolutionary dog paw pad coating system that increases traction, stops slipping, improves stability while it enhances your dog’s quality of life. You will see your dog walk , get up and down, with stronger traction on smooth or slick surfaces after every application.
How it works
The friction coating enhances your dog’s paw and downward leg force by preventing slipping and splay-legging. With PawFriction, you can apply a coating that improves your dog’s paw’s grip, reduces their risk of injury, builds muscle tone, and adds confidence.
PawFriction was developed by veterinarians and is completely non-toxic. The PawFriction coating will not damage floors and is very difficult for your dog to remove or destroy. Our products are made proudly in the USA and assembled at a sheltered workshop in Missouri.
Recommended for Senior Dogs:
Aging pets, as mobility is life. Dogs with Muscle loss, arthritis, orthopedic/neurologic issues, and general aging which can cause dogs to have significant mobility problems, especially their paws slipping on hardwood and other smooth floors.
PawFriction was created to give your senior dog a new lease on life by giving them the ability and confidence to get around. PawFriction immediately restores your dog's front and hind paw traction without the need for individual sizing or placing objects over the foot.
How to use Pawfriction
To use the PawFriction product by Pawtology for senior dogs, follow these general steps. Remember, it's important to read the product's instructions thoroughly before application to ensure safety and effectiveness. The instructions provided here are based on common practices and should not replace the specific guidelines provided by Pawtology with their product.
-
- Prepare the Area: Choose a clean, well-lit area where you can comfortably work with your dog. Make sure the floor is non-slip or place a towel under your dog for stability.
- Prepare Your Dog: Ensure your dog is calm and comfortable. It might help to have treats on hand to reassure them throughout the process.
- Clean the Paw Pads: Before applying PawFriction, clean your dog's paw pads to remove any dirt, debris, or oils. The pads should be dry before application.
- Apply the PawFriction: Open the PawFriction product. It typically includes a bonding agent (glue) and a friction-creating powder. Apply the bonding agent to your dog's paw pads according to the instructions. Be careful not to apply too much, and avoid getting it on the fur around the pads.
- Apply the Friction Powder: After applying the bonding agent, sprinkle the friction powder onto the paw pads. Ensure an even coating to maximize the grip effect. The powder adheres to the bonding agent, creating a rough surface that helps prevent slipping.
- Allow Drying Time: Follow the product's instructions for drying time. Ensure the product is completely dry before allowing your dog to walk around, ensuring the product adheres well and functions as intended.
- Monitor Your Dog: After application, keep an eye on your dog to ensure they do not lick their paws excessively. While PawFriction is designed to be safe, ingestion of the product in large amounts could be harmful.
- Maintenance: The effectiveness of PawFriction varies based on activity level, floor surfaces, and the individual dog. Monitor the condition of your dog's paw pads and reapply the product as recommended by Pawtology or as needed. Order more when you get low on product or pet adhesive.
Consult Your Vet: If you have concerns about your dog's mobility, paw health, or if your dog has a reaction to the product, consult your veterinarian.
PawFriction is designed to help senior dogs gain better traction on slippery surfaces, potentially reducing the risk of falls and injuries. It can be particularly helpful for dogs with mobility issues, arthritis, or muscle weakness. Always use the product as directed and consult with a professional if you're unsure about its suitability for your dog's specific health conditions.

It does work with getting more traction when your dog refuses to wear booties

Helped my senior not slip when walking and keep traction when jumping down from the furniture. Recommended!

I tried PawFriction for my senior pup who has a lot of issues with her spine, hips and hind legs. The application wasn’t the easiest – she put her foot down and got glue all over the floor, she stepped on the edge of the tray of granules and they spilled everywhere – though I never tried it while she was lying down. The tip of the glue stick is a bit scratchy on paws, but all in all, my dog didn’t fight the application. The problem was more with her maintaining balance with one leg lifted. Again, probably should have tried it lying down or gotten another person to help me apply it so they could hold her while I applied the glue! I did notice a slight improvement in my dog’s stability while walking on our hardwood floors. Even at almost 14, she’s still a very active dog outside, so unfortunately the PawFriction only stayed on for a couple of days. Before trying PawFriction I tried Dr. Buzby’s ToeGrips. I found the company to have excellent customer service, but I believe the PawFriction product is more effective. We saw no results from the ToeGrips. My vet and natural pet store recommended PawFriction. In summary, I think PawFriction would be a good choice for a dog that spends most time indoors and/or is not very active. The PawFriction 30-day guaranteed is fantastic! If it doesn’t work for your dog, just email PawFriction and get 100% of your money back (they don’t even take out what they spent on shipping). This shows great integrity and commitment to the product and makes it a no-brainer for any pet parent who thinks this type of product might work for their pup. Seriously you lose absolutely nothing and your pup might gain increased mobility! This makes it absolutely worth trying in my book! Thanks to PawFriction for offering the guarantee so people can give it a try!

Dr. Bone Here. Thank you so much for your very honest review. It definitely isn’t the easiest to apply. We will often recommend that people do the application while the dog is laying on their side. That can help with those who have trouble balancing.

It was great to see our 14 year old collie able to rise from the tile floor in the kitchen and walk across it without his hind legs sliding out from under him. Coating lasted for about a week before needing to be reapplied.
